In the past few years I have been cooperating with a female musician and composer, named Limpe Fuchs. She writes and makes foremost experimental music. We have developed a piece which we had originally called Shadow-Sounds – Sound-Shadow in order to point out the changing relationship between both. While the shadow creates a sound in us, the sound has a shadow. The point of departure for this play was a walk in a small, tormented forest in Lower Bavaria (Germany), where we found various ‚figures‘. To Them we added plants and animal bones to the found objects, started to experiment and finally came up with a play which deals with the idea of giving new life to dead materials. Finally, we called the play „animare“. A few graphic elements cuttings and light images were interjected, which modified the purely naturalistic character.
Even though the play has a specific framework, it can be changed over and over again and thus remains very much alive.
